The Lahaina Wild Fires

We were 17 days out from arriving on Maui, when we got the news about the Lahaina wild fires. At first we didn't think to much off it, Its quite normal for a few fires to be burning here and there all over Maui. But as the night progressed we started to realize that the whole of Lahaina was on fire and there was no stopping it. We saw images of Front Street on fire, we got news our apartments burnt down and we just knew this would not turn out well.

It was an absolute tragedy. Now, one week one we are only realizing just how much destruction this has caused.  So many lives lost (over 100 and still not done counting) everyone's houses are gone and Front Street will never be the same. Most of our friends and co workers have lost their house and only have what they were wearing.

This is so much bigger than a postponed holiday. This was a absolute disaster.

I wanted to start up this blog, to post all our wonderful memories and photo's of Lahaina so our kids (and me) can remember what it was really like.
